FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Maine Equal Rights Center launches campaign requiring ID to vote.
Portland, ME- New state law, ‘An Act Requiring Residents to be Citizens to Vote’ will require a valid state ID, U.S. Passport, or other legal document to pick up a ballot.
Section 1 of the 15th Amendment says; “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color or previous condition of servitude.”
There is only one way to tell who is and isn't a citizen.
48 states require ID and with tens of thousands of immigrants, non-immigrants, legal immigrants with applications pending, undocumented immigrants (illegal aliens), refugee’s, asylee’s, migrant workers, secondary migrants and parolee’s (people who would never be considered for citizenship) flooding Portland and Maine to collect welfare benefits there is only way to protect our citizens rights.
The only people who have an issue with showing an ID are those who can‘t get one and the only people who can‘t get one are those mentioned above. We protect our First and Second amendment rights but not the heart and soul of our state and nation, our right to vote.
What good is an ID to protect your bank account when they elect politicians who will give them your money anyways.
Currently, to vote in Maine all a person must do is raise their right hand and swear they are telling the truth, just like a politician. While we would love to think everyone is honest when it comes to money and power that is not always the case and if people have no problem breaking the law to enter the won't respect our Constitutional rights if there is no way to protect them from foreign and alien influence.
The Maine Equal Rights Center will introduce this bill along with co-legislation An Act Requiring Residents to be Citizens to Receive Welfare Benefits in January when the legislature convenes. These bills will also be put to a Citizens Initiative in the event politicians do not protect citizens right to vote from non citizens.
The Maine Equal Rights Center is a non profit, non partisan organization geared towards protecting and defending our Constitutional rights restoring our liberty and freedom.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
July 16, 2014
Maine Equal Rights Center launches campaign requiring residents to be citizens to collect General Assistance.
Portland, ME- New state law will require applicants to prove residence and citizenship protecting Maine’s Tenth Amendment right and upholding federal rules.
The law, An Act Requiring Residents to be Citizens to Receive Welfare Benefits will require towns to use the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system as well as have applicants provide identification proving citizenship such as a birth certificate, U.S. Passport, or other legal documents. Towns are required to use the SAVE system now but fail to do so.
The federal governments jurisdiction over immigration law has been upheld by the Supreme Court under the Supremacy Clause that says federal law trumps state law except in matters constitutionally left to the states.
Article one, section eight, clause four of the U.S. Constitution grants the federal government the authority to define naturalization which is the process to become a citizen but delegates all matters regarding immigration to the states under the Tenth Amendment. President Obama has no Constitutional authority to enforce immigration law and his refusal to enforce federal rules laid out in the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 violates our Tenth Amendment rights as well as Maine’s treasury and sovereign borders.
Attorney General Janet Mills and Mayor Michael Brennan are breaking federal law and violating our Constitutional rights by not requiring Portland to use the SAVE system resulting in Mainers spending a million dollars a year and this amount will only increase as President Obama floods our nation and state with illegals and they come to Portland. It is wrong for Mayor Brennan and Attorney General Mills to force the rest of the state to pay for Portland’s illegal and unsustainable immigration policies when Portland already consumes 40% of the state welfare budget.
Attorney General Mills was quoted as saying, "you can't make every town in Maine a mini immigration office" even though that is precisely what the SAVE system is for and there is no need for every town to do so because Portland is the only one breaking the law.
The law will require all towns to verify and confirm eligibility for those applying for and currently receiving benefits and will require all undocumented and illegal recipients to be reported and deported.
Governor LePage is proposing policies to reform benefits and entitlements for those accessing taxpayer money illegally, however this will allow Portland to continue breaking the law by raising taxes on property owners and forcing them to pay for it against their will.
The Maine Equal Rights Center will have lawmakers sponsor this bill in November, however if it should not pass the legislature then will proceed with a Citizens Initiative to place it on the ballot because the majority of Maine people in both political parties agree that illegal immigrants should not receive taxpayer benefits and entitlements.
